I love this headline from the Clarion-Ledger: "Police brace for visit by Bush." He's talking about traffic snarls, but when Rankin County Sheriff Ronnie Pennington says "It will be a mess," he could mean the President's increasingly tangled rhetoric on Social Security - which is what he'll be speaking about today to workers at the Nissan plant in Canton, Miss. Trent Lott, Thad Cochran, and apparent presidential hopeful Haley Barbour, among other Mississippi luminaries, will be on hand.
Or perhaps Bush is there to get in some personal union-busting. It so happens that workers from this plant met back in March with UAW representatives to air complaints about low wages and lack of job security. It's doubtful that Bush's stage managers will allow the workers to voice similar concerns about his privatization plans.
