What Does Duke Owe Durham?
The Institute for Southern Studies and Durham Rising invite you to a talk and discussion with award-winning author
DAVARIAN BALDWIN
Friday, Sept. 26 | 2-3pm
Asbury United Methodist Church | 806 Clarendon St, Durham, NC
Join the Institute and Durham Rising for a community conversation with leading urbanist and scholar Davarian Baldwin, author of “In the Shadow of the Ivory Tower.”
The talk and discussion will look at universities like Duke as major employers and landowners, and their responsibilities to protect jobs, improve pay, enforce strong labor standards, and support public schools and infrastructure.
As Duke celebrates its Founders' Day Weekend, Friday's discussion will honor the legacy of generations of working people in Durham who have built and supported Duke over the past 180 years.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVP here.
